About this ride

Location

Based in Taupo, with the overnight stop at a private lodge in National Park.

The ride

GPS-navigated adventure ride of approximately 700 km over 2 days, taking the long way around Lake Taupo and beyond.

The route includes winding back country roads, gravel roads, and reasonably well formed off-road tracks through farms and forestry, including private farmland and forestry roads and tracks.

Optional challenge sections are available for competent off-road riders on enduro-style bikes. Depending on weather, riders may encounter steeper inclines and declines, rutted areas, slippery or muddy terrain, and stream crossings.

Suitable for road registered dual purpose motorcycles from 250s to 1200s. Adventure tyres are recommended.

Navigation

Riders must navigate using GPS. The ride is no longer navigated using roll charts.

Groups riding together are advised to have at least two riders with GPS. At least one rider in each group should be competent with GPS navigation.

Moto Mapped staff riders will be on route to guide and assist where needed.
